Diploma in Community and Justice Services (Correctional Worker)

This two-year diploma trains students to work as correctional workers, providing counsel and support to incarcerated individuals and helping them make positive choices for life after parole. The curriculum combines case management theory with over 400 hours of field placement experience, delivered on campus at Niagara College's Welland campus. Entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent with Grade 12 English. Applicants must complete a criminal record check before their third term, hold current Standard First Aid and CPR Level A certification, and have a valid driver's licence with access to a private vehicle for placements. The programme is not open to international applicants. Graduates are prepared for front-line roles supporting justice-involved individuals within correctional and community justice settings.
