Dietetic Technology and Food Processing Diploma

This three-year DEC trains dietetic technologists across four employment sectors: food transformation, community and clinical nutrition, food-service management, and food inspection. Students learn to understand food-transformation processes, handle food safely, and apply the principles of balanced nutrition through combined theoretical and practical coursework. In the third year, students plan and produce meals for the Centre des enfants, a facility serving financially vulnerable children, and take part in the l'Arc-en-ciel counter project, preparing healthy menus for groups of fifty people. The program builds skills in menu planning, food-safety inspection, quantity food production, and nutritional counselling that transfer directly to hospital, institutional, and food-industry settings. Health-placement conditions apply, including proof of primary vaccination requested at registration for practicum placements. Graduates are prepared for technologist roles supporting dietitians, food producers, and public-health food-inspection programs.
