Program details
Overview
Dental Office Assistant is a 12-week certificate program at NorQuest College that prepares students for administrative roles in dental practices. The single-term program covers appointment scheduling, billing, filing, and customer service specific to the dental industry, and is offered in blended and online formats on a full-time or part-time basis. Students complete 22 credits across six required courses, plus 150 hours of practicum work experience that may include day, evening, or night shifts, including weekends. Multiple intakes are offered throughout the year, including a rural intake for learners outside the Greater Edmonton area. Candidates are expected to have keyboarding and basic computer skills, including typing at least 40 words per minute, and access to a computer with a stable internet connection, since much of the program is completed independently online. The program is not open to international students, as practicum timing does not align with study or work permit requirements. It uses freely available learning materials as a Zero Textbook Cost program.
