Overview
This diploma program at NorQuest College equips students with technical skills and environmental knowledge for careers in the environmental sector. Coursework covers biology, ecology, physics, and statistics, preparing graduates for work in environmental management, impact assessments, waste management, pollution monitoring, wildlife conservation, and contaminated site remediation. The program combines classroom instruction with laboratory and field training, including a six-week field school in the third term providing 240 hours of hands-on learning. Students may also pursue an optional paid 480-hour co-op placement. The program is based at the Edmonton campus. The programme is not currently open to international students.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires English Language Arts 30-1 at 50% or 30-2 at 60% (or the equivalent ESLG 1860/1898), Mathematics 30-2 at 50%, and Biology 30 at 50%; applicants holding a Bachelor of Science, Technology, or Engineering degree are considered to have met the academic requirement provided the English Language Arts requirement is met. Non-native English speakers must submit proof no more than two years old: IELTS Academic 6.5 with no section below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 84 with no section below 21, Cambridge English 180 with no section below 165, CAEL 70, PTE Academic 59 with no section below 56, or Duolingo 115. A 2.0 term and cumulative GPA is required to remain in good standing and to graduate. The programme is not currently open to international students.
