Overview

This diploma program at NorQuest College prepares students for work in data science and machine learning. The curriculum covers programming in Python and SQL, tools such as Pandas, PyTorch, Excel, and Power BI, and cloud platforms including Google Cloud, Azure, AWS, and Snowflake, alongside data pipeline development, machine learning model deployment, responsible AI and governance, and business communication skills. The program runs over four terms and is delivered in an in-person/hyflex format from the Edmonton campus, allowing some students to attend on campus while others attend online. Students complete two work-integrated projects with local industry partners using real data, and may apply for an optional paid four-month co-op placement offering 640 hours of practical experience through a competitive selection process. Courses can also be taken individually, allowing students to study as few as one course at a time. The program suits both career changers looking to add data science and AI skills to an existing background and those entering the field for the first time.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or refugees) apply to NorQuest College through ApplyAlberta: applications open October 1 of the prior year for the Fall intake, February 1 for Winter, and June 1 for Spring/Summer, with the domestic deadline set as the first Friday of the term itself and offers made on a first-qualified, first-admitted basis subject to seat availability. International applicants apply through NorQuest's own virtual admissions system and face earlier fixed deadlines: June 9 for Fall, October 15 for Winter, and February 9 for Spring/Summer entry. NorQuest publishes this schedule as a recurring policy rather than year-specific dates, and does not describe admission as fully rolling, since seats are limited by program. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
