Foundations of Indigenous Learning Diploma

The Foundations of Indigenous Learning Diploma is a one-year transition program at Trent University designed for Indigenous students preparing to enter undergraduate study. It provides a pathway into several Trent degree programs, including the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Social Work, and the Bachelor of Education – Indigenous. The diploma consists of 4.0 credits combining foundational coursework with academic skills preparation for the chosen degree pathway. Admission is open to Indigenous students who hold the equivalent of Grade 12 standing or who qualify as mature students; applicants may also be admitted through the approval of the Director of the First Peoples House of Learning, which coordinates applications and enrolment for the program. Students who complete the diploma with the required standing can proceed into their selected degree program at Trent. The program is administered through the First Peoples House of Learning, which supports Indigenous students through their transition into university-level study.
