Biomedical Engineering Technology is a two-year, on-campus diploma that trains students as electronic technologists with a specialization in biomedical equipment. First-year study covers core topics including electronics, microcontroller programming, mathematics and computer systems. Students then develop expertise in biomedical instrumentation, X-ray and diagnostic imaging equipment, and medical laboratory instrumentation, along with computer network systems and medical imaging systems relevant to healthcare technology environments. Supplementary coursework in anatomy, physiology and medical equipment management builds the applied medical knowledge needed to service and manage healthcare technology. The program has a Fall intake. Graduates are prepared to address technology-related risks in healthcare settings and can pursue roles supporting medical laboratory practices, computer network systems and health technology management within hospitals, clinics and biomedical equipment suppliers.
