Diploma in Magnetic Resonance Imaging 1st Discipline

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), 1st Discipline is a diploma program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology that trains students to operate MRI equipment and produce diagnostic images. The program is delivered in a hybrid format combining classroom instruction with an MRI simulation lab, an MRI extremity scanner, IV arms and other industry-standard equipment, alongside clinical placement. Coursework covers MRI principles, imaging techniques, safety protocols and patient care across two program phases. Graduates become eligible to write the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists MRI national certification exams, enabling practice across Canada and the United States. Seats are reserved under an interprovincial agreement for Saskatchewan residents, and the program is not open to international applicants. It runs full-time over two years with a September intake. It suits students pursuing a career as an MRI technologist working alongside physicians, nurses and other medical professionals who rely on non-invasive imaging technology.
