Hotel and Restaurant Management is a two-year diploma program preparing students for careers in the accommodations and restaurant sectors of the hospitality industry. Students learn to create, develop and manage guest experiences and culturally relevant customer service, alongside entrepreneurial business practices including human resources, finance, strategic marketing and leadership. Instruction combines traditional classrooms with mixology labs, a full-service training restaurant and simulated learning environments, and includes local and provincial tourism activities such as event management and networking with industry partners. The program includes a mandatory co-op placement of at least 600 hours in the third and fourth terms. Students complete industry certifications including Serve Right for Managers, Basic Food Safety Certification and Emergency First Aid/CPR Level C, with additional certifications possible depending on electives. The program was developed with industry input and is taught by instructors with hospitality industry experience. Graduates leave with workplace-ready skills for accommodations and food service roles. International graduates are not eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit.
