Overview
This specialization is offered within either the Bachelor of Science in Psychology or the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology program, over four years, delivered in-class at the Downtown Oshawa campus. Both degree routes share a common first year and foundational psychology courses in the second year, with specialization electives taken in the upper years. Students explore mental processes, brain function and behaviour, gaining expertise in cognitive functions, perception, neuropsychology and brain imaging techniques through research-based and hands-on learning, and apply cognitive theories to real-world problems. The program builds a foundation in research methods and statistics alongside tech-focused skills applicable across disciplines. Experiential learning opportunities include internship and practicum placements. It suits students aiming at further graduate study or direct-to-work roles in neuroscience-adjacent research, health, or technology settings.

Admission Requirements: Ontario Tech University sets separate secondary-school prerequisites for each entry route. For the Bachelor of Science in Psychology, current Ontario secondary school students must complete the OSSD with six 4U or 4M credits, including English (ENG4U), Advanced Functions (MHF4U), and two of Biology (SBI4U), Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U), Chemistry (SCH4U) or Physics (SPH4U). For the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, students must complete the OSSD with six 4U or 4M courses, including English (ENG4U); Biology (SBI4U) and one of Advanced Functions (MHF4U), Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U) or Mathematics of Data Management (MDM4U) are recommended. Admission is competitive: the specific average required varies from year to year, and last year's cut-off was 70 per cent with an expected cut-off in the low 70s, so meeting the minimum course requirements does not guarantee a seat. Applicants whose first language is not English must present, within two years of the intake, IELTS Academic 6.5 with no band below 6.0, Duolingo English Test 120, PTE Academic 58, CAEL 70 with no band below 60, Cambridge English Advanced 180 with no band below 170, or Oxford ELLT 7, or an IB Diploma or certificate with a minimum grade of 4 in English A. The program begins each September and January.
