Fine Arts Certificate

The Fine Arts Certificate is a one-year, in-person program at Portage College's Lac La Biche campus that introduces students to core studio disciplines including drawing, painting, and other visual art forms alongside design principles and art history. Students build practical skills across multiple artistic mediums through studio classes and have opportunities to work with visiting artists. The program runs from August to April and is intended to prepare graduates for further study in a Bachelor of Fine Arts program or for entry-level creative work. Coursework combines technical skill-building with critical and historical study of art. The certificate is delivered entirely through in-person instruction at Portage College, giving students direct studio access and hands-on guidance from instructors throughout the year.
