Overview

The Bachelor of Arts in Multidisciplinary Studies (MDST) is offered through a block-transfer partnership between Portage College and Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP). Students complete two years of coursework (20 courses) at Portage College before transferring into RDP's Bachelor of Arts in Multidisciplinary Studies to finish the degree. The pathway is designed for students who want a broad, multidisciplinary arts credential without relocating for the first two years of study. Coursework at Portage College follows a multi-access learning model. Intakes are offered in fall, winter and spring, each with its own application deadline. Admission from high school requires a minimum average of 60%, with no mark below 50%, in English Language Arts 30-1 and four other Grade 12-level courses. Students who complete the block-transfer coursework at Portage move on to Red Deer Polytechnic to complete the remaining coursework and receive the RDP-conferred degree.
