The Community Social Work diploma is a two-year, in-person program that prepares students to support individuals, families, and groups working through a range of life situations. Students complete 350 hours of supervised practicum experience each year in settings such as addiction treatment centres, disability services, probation services, schools, shelters, and youth centres. Coursework covers social work theory, case management, and direct-practice skills used in community and social service settings, with an emphasis on practical, hands-on training alongside academic study. Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles in community social services, working with diverse populations across a range of agencies. The program begins in the fall term at Portage College.
