Primary-Junior French as a Second Language is a 12-month, in-person consecutive teacher education program offered by Queen's Faculty of Education, starting in May and leading to a Bachelor of Education. It prepares candidates to teach French Immersion and Core French to students from Kindergarten through Grade 6 in Ontario. Coursework takes place in learning blocks in Kingston, combined with 17 weeks of in-class practicum placements in French-language school settings across a catchment of 28 publicly funded school boards, plus a 2-week alternative practicum that can be completed anywhere in the world. Applications are submitted through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre's Teacher Education Application Service, alongside a Personal Statement of Experience and supplemental documents. Graduates receive both a Bachelor of Education and the FSL Part 1 Additional Qualification, preparing them to teach in French Immersion and Core French classrooms across Ontario.
