Overview
Applied Economics (APEC) is a Major plan offered by the Department of Economics, combining 30 units of core economics courses, 12 units from one of four available sub-plans, and 6 units of communication courses for a total of 48 units. The plan applies economic theory and quantitative methods to specific policy and industry contexts through its combination of core courses and a chosen sub-plan focus. Combined with a second major or minor and sufficient electives to reach 120 units, the APEC plan leads to a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree. The plan requires completion of first-year calculus (MATH 121, or MATH 127 and 128) and an introductory statistics course (STAT 161 or STAT 263); other introductory statistics courses are not normally accepted as substitutes.
