The Master of Arts Leadership is a 12-month, three-term professional master's program in the DAN School of Drama and Music focused on management and leadership within the arts and cultural sector. Coursework, delivered online from May to December, covers areas such as arts marketing, arts philanthropy, human resources, artistic producing, and finance and accounting for the sector. From January to April, students complete a paid internship placement at a host arts organization, tailored where possible to their artistic background and location; past placements include the National Arts Centre, the Vancouver Art Gallery, the Stratford Festival, and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. Rather than a thesis, students complete a capstone report in their final term, researching a topic connected to their internship placement under the supervision of a faculty advisor. Graduates go on to roles in marketing, development, producing, programming, and executive leadership at museums, symphonies, galleries, theatres, and municipalities.
