Overview
Gender Studies at Queen's University is offered through the Department of Gender Studies as a 4-year Bachelor of Arts Honours (BAH) degree, available as a Specialization, Major, or Minor, alongside a 3-year General BA. The BAH Specialization (120 units total) provides an immersive academic experience emphasizing feminist methods and research training, including a required Social Justice Practicum. The BAH Major combines a strong concentration in Gender Studies with an equally strong concentration in another discipline, or a double Minor, and can be completed alongside most other departments in the Faculty of Arts and Science. Core first-year courses include GNDS 120 (Women, Gender, Difference) and GNDS 125 (Gender, Race and Popular Culture), with upper-year requirements in feminist thought, research methods, and 300-/400-level electives. The Department, based in Robert Sutherland Hall, also offers a Certificate in Sexual and Gender Diversity.

Admission Requirements: Admission to a Gender Studies degree program after first year is based on GPA: a minimum cumulative GPA of 1.9 is required for the 4-year BAH (Specialization, Major, or Minor), and 0.7 for the 3-year General BA. Applicants should have completed at least one of the first-year Gender Studies courses, GNDS 120 or GNDS 125.
