Overview
Statistics at Queen's University is offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics within the Faculty of Arts and Science, with Major (Bachelor of Science, Honours), Medial (Bachelor of Arts, Honours), and Minor plans available. The program covers the mathematical and computational study of randomness, uncertainty, and data variability, combining theory, computation, and applied coursework to build a foundation in mathematics, computing, and statistical methods. A Medial in Statistics can be paired with another subject to broaden career options, and students may pursue a work-integrated internship through the Queen's Undergraduate Internship Program (QUIP). Graduates are prepared for careers as data scientists, data analysts, statisticians, actuaries, market researchers, operations researchers, and financial or risk analysts, fields the department notes are consistently ranked among the most in-demand in North America. Course offerings and detailed Plan requirements are set out in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics' section of the Faculty of Arts and Science Academic Calendar, and students can consult the Stats Major Map for course-planning guidance.
