The Master of Education (MEd) at Queen's University develops advanced skills in research, writing, teaching, and educational leadership. Students choose among three pathways: coursework (10 courses), a project (8 courses plus a project), or a thesis (6 courses plus a thesis), each leading to the same MEd degree. The program is delivered in person in Kingston, Ontario, with full-time and part-time study options; daytime and evening courses run in the fall and winter terms, with condensed courses offered in spring/summer. A Bachelor of Education is not required for admission, and the program does not include teacher certification. Coursework students are supported by the Graduate Studies Office, while thesis and project students are admitted with a supervisor and, if full-time, are eligible for a funding package. All students can complete an optional internship, and the faculty's research strengths span areas including Curriculum Studies, Educational Psychology, Indigenous Education and Land-Based Learning, Leadership and Policy Studies, and Teacher Education.
