The Graduate Diploma in Education (GDE) is a fully online, part-time graduate diploma offered by the Faculty of Education at Queen's University. The program consists of five graduate-level courses, three required and two elective, worth 3.0 units each, delivered asynchronously so students can participate from anywhere. Courses run for 10 weeks in the Fall and Winter terms and 7 weeks in the Spring and Summer terms, and do not need to be completed in a specific order. Students choose one of six concentrations, including Assessment & Evaluation, Classroom Specialist, Educational Administration, Global Education, Indigenous Education, and Literacy Education, and complete the three required courses in that concentration plus two electives. Graduates may go on to complete an additional five courses to earn a Professional Master of Education, with GDE coursework counting toward that credential. Applicants who have completed a Continuing Teacher Education or Professional Studies post-graduate certificate at Queen's qualify for advanced standing in two of the elective courses.
