Program details
Overview
The University Arts Diploma at Red Deer Polytechnic is a two-year program that lets students build a broad foundation across the humanities and social sciences, including English, history, philosophy, anthropology, communications, economics, political science, psychology and sociology. Students follow a General pathway for maximum flexibility or choose a themed stream: Global Perspectives, Science & Society, or Culture, Societies & Gender. Delivery is on-campus, full-time or part-time. The diploma satisfies core requirements for direct entry into Year 3 of RDP's Bachelor of Arts in Multidisciplinary Studies and can serve as a launchpad into RDP's Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and it is designed to support transfer to other Canadian universities. Students must pass all courses and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00. The program suits students who are undecided on a specific major and want to explore multiple disciplines while earning transferable credit toward a future degree, rather than committing immediately to a single-subject program.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires 50% in ELA 30-1 or 65% in ELA 30-2, plus 50% in one other Group A, B or C grade 12 or 30-level course (Group A: Aboriginal Studies 30, Social Studies 30-1, or a Language 30/35; Group B: Art 30/31 or similar fine arts courses; Group C: Biology 30, Chemistry 30, Mathematics 30-1/30-2/31, Physics 30, Science 30, or five credits of advanced Computer Science).
