Overview
The B.Sc. in Space Science at Royal Military College of Canada is a four-year, 42-credit undergraduate programme offered in both Honours and general tracks. The curriculum covers Space Operations, Orbital Mechanics, Astronomy, Space Systems, Physics of the Space Environment, and Space Mission Analysis and Design, building on foundational physics and mathematics courses from the first two years of study. The programme is delivered on-campus at RMC's Kingston, Ontario campus alongside the college's mandatory military and bilingual training components. It is offered primarily to officer cadets enrolled through the Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP) or the University Training Plan for Non-Commissioned Members (UTPNCM), sponsored by the Canadian Armed Forces. Graduates receive a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Space Science, preparing them for roles in satellite operations, orbital mechanics, and space systems analysis within the Canadian Armed Forces or related fields.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet one of the following conditions to be eligible for admission to RMC: be an applicant to a subsidized Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) education program such as the Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP); be a current serving CAF member who has completed basic MOSID training; be a released CAF member who has completed their basic MOSID qualifications; be a Term or Indeterminate employee of the Department of National Defence or another federal government department; or be a spouse of a Regular Force member of the CAF. Academic prerequisites vary by the applicant's education system and program stream; for science and engineering programs this generally means senior-level English, mathematics, chemistry and physics coursework or their equivalents. RMC reserves the right to reject applicants on the basis of their overall academic record, even where entrance requirements have technically been met.
