Overview
Earth and Planetary Science studies the solid Earth, its hydrosphere, and neighbouring terrestrial planets, applying chemistry, physics and mathematics to understand how planets form and evolve. Students examine the origin and evolution of Earth and other planets, planetary resources, and the environmental consequences of natural and human-driven change, across past, present and future contexts. The programme is offered within McGill's Faculty of Science and leads to a Bachelor of Science. Coursework includes Introductory Mineralogy, Earth and Life Through Time, Sedimentary Geology, Volcanology and Cosmochemistry. Small class sizes support close contact with faculty conducting active research, and fieldwork is a core component of the student experience, with recent trips to the Grand Canyon, Antarctica, Tanzania, and Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Requirements
