Overview
The Graduate Certificate in Workplace Innovation is a graduate-level program delivered entirely online that focuses on applying creativity and design thinking to organizational leadership and problem-solving. Students work in a team-based cohort of working professionals, using tools such as design thinking, artifact creation, sketching, model making and prototyping to build a culture of innovation connected to organizational strategy. The program consists of three online courses, taken one at a time over nine weeks each, preceded by a required non-credit course on academic integrity; each course requires approximately 10 to 15 hours of work per week. The certificate can be completed as a specialization option within the MBA in Executive Management and Master of Global Management programs, and its credits can be transferred toward those programs as well as the MA in Tourism Management and MA in Interdisciplinary Studies. Two of its courses can also be taken individually through Royal Roads' General Studies program, with credit transferable to other certificates, diplomas and degree programs.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission is assessed holistically, taking into account applicants' work and life experience, volunteer and community involvement, practical experience, training and formal education. Standard admission requires completion of a four-year (or comparable) undergraduate or graduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, along with normally at least two years of relevant full-time work experience in leadership, management, communication, training, marketing or consulting roles. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications may be considered for flexible admission, which normally requires at least five years of extensive, relevant work experience and some post-secondary education. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet Royal Roads University's English language proficiency requirements.
