Overview
This one-year diploma shares its coursework with Royal Roads' two-year Master of Arts in Conflict Analysis and Management, and students may switch into the master's program with credits transferring directly and the master's-level degree awarded instead of the diploma. Coursework builds facilitation, negotiation, and mediation skills for careers spanning labour relations, community development, environmental management, and international NGOs, through courses such as Understanding Conflict, Change and Systems in Organizational Contexts, Dealing with Conflict, Designing Conflict Management Practice, and Legal Frameworks and Conflict Engagement. The diploma is delivered online over 12 months with one two-week residency on campus; students take one nine-week online course at a time, with a two-week break between courses, at roughly 20 hours of work per week, and the program opens with a required non-credit course on academic integrity.
Requirements
Minimum GPA:3.33 / 4.33
Admission Requirements: Standard admission requires a four-year (or comparable) undergraduate degree in a relevant and related field, with a minimum GPA of 'B+' (3.33/4.33). Applicants holding the degree but below the GPA threshold may qualify through flexible admission with a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience; applicants without an undergraduate degree need ten years of work experience, including at least two years in a leadership or management position, and are normally required to complete the non-credit Academic Writing and Critical Thinking course before starting. The programme page defers non-native English speakers to Royal Roads' institution-wide requirement: for graduate-level entry, IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.5 in writing and speaking and 6.0 in listening and reading, or TOEFL iBT 88 overall with a minimum of 24 in writing and 20 in listening, reading and speaking. Applicants must submit an application with fee, official transcripts, two letters of reference, a two-to-three-page personal statement addressing six set questions, and a structured résumé; international applicants require a credential evaluation and permanent residents provide a PR card copy.
Application Details
Application Deadline:Royal Roads University sets no single university-wide deadline: domestic and international applicants apply directly to the university through the same process, and every programme page checked shows one identical deadline for both. RRU consistently closes a programme's application exactly three calendar months before that programme's own intake start date — a September 2027 intake typically closes 7 June 2027 — though a few programmes (the Master of Global Management, for example) use a six-month lead instead. Each programme lists its own upcoming intakes, running from 2026 into 2028 depending on the programme, and RRU says it may still accept a late application if space and processing time remain, but it publishes no separate international deadline and no institution-wide equal-consideration or rolling policy. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
