This 15-week certificate program trains students to operate remotely piloted aircraft systems (drones) across commercial sectors including agriculture, forestry, oil and gas, construction and emergency response. Coursework covers drone construction, maintenance and operation, Transport Canada's aviation regulations, geomatics data collection for inspections and mapping, and the fundamentals of Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations, delivered in person at Point Trotter Campus and the Art Smith Aero Centre. On completion, graduates are certified for Transport Canada's Advanced Small Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) rating, Visual Line-of-Sight (VLOS) pilot certification, and the Restricted Operator Certificate with Aeronautical qualification (ROC-A). Applicants must hold Canadian citizenship or permanent residency, have 20/20 visual acuity (with or without corrective lenses) and sufficient English language ability to communicate with air traffic control. The program accepts international applicants but does not currently meet the field of study requirement for the Post-Graduation Work Permit.
