This two-year diploma combines theoretical instruction with hands-on training in environmental management. Students learn to collect air, water, soil, and biological samples for analysis, perform site reclamation of disturbed or contaminated land, and manage the collection, transport, processing, recycling, and disposal of waste materials. Training includes a week-long environmental work practicum with a local employer and an environmental field school in Kananaskis, where students collect and analyze soil and water samples. The program is delivered in person at the Main Campus and is accredited by ECO Canada under the Canadian Environmental Accreditation Commission. Graduates are eligible for membership in the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta, ECO Canada as an Environmental Professional in training, and the Chemical Institute of Canada. Career paths include government, transportation, water treatment, mining, chemical manufacturing, and environmental policy roles, with transfer pathways to a bachelor's degree at partner institutions such as Royal Roads University.
