Educational Assistant is a 36-week, one-year Certificate offered by Saskatchewan Polytechnic on-campus at Regina and Saskatoon, with a distance education option and offerings through regional colleges across the province. Students provide one-on-one support in inclusive classrooms, studying basic care skills, classroom management, communication, cultural awareness, child development, and strategies for supporting diverse learning needs. All delivery formats include two four-week practicums, one at an elementary school and one at a high school. The program starts in September. Admission requires Grade 12 completion and an English language proficiency requirement, or alternate admission through ACCUPLACER scores of 250 in Arithmetic and Reading, 245 in Writing, and 5 on the Writeplacer. A Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check are required before the practicums, and international students need a co-op work permit to complete them.
