Overview
This diploma program trains civil engineering technologists through five academic semesters combined with two four-month paid co-operative work terms, for a total program length of about 27 months. It is delivered full-time on campus at the Moose Jaw campus. The first two semesters, common to all students, cover surveying, computer applications and modelling, communications, materials analysis and testing, hydraulics, project management, and municipal infrastructure. Students then choose between a Construction option, covering geotechnical engineering, pavement design, structural design in steel, timber, and reinforced concrete, and transportation, or a Water Resources option, covering hydrometric data collection, water chemistry, river engineering, hydrology, watershed management, and water quality and supply management. Saskatchewan Polytechnic arranges interviews for the two mandatory co-op work terms built into the schedule. Applicants without the standard credential can qualify through ACCUPLACER, with minimum scores of 250 Arithmetic, 240 Advanced Algebra and Functions, 256 Quantitative Reasoning/Algebra/Statistics, 250 Reading and 245 Writing, or through 15 approved post-secondary credits. The programme applies Saskatchewan Polytechnic's institution-wide English Language Requirement: IELTS Academic overall 6.5 with 5.0 per band, TOEFL iBT 81 overall with 19 per skill, PTE Academic 63 overall with 50 per component, Duolingo English Test 110, or CAEL 60 overall with 50 per component. Admission is First Qualified/First Admitted, with applications opening September 1 annually for the August intake; the Construction option enrols 28 students and the Water Resources option 20 students per year.

Application Deadline:Saskatchewan Polytechnic admits most programs on a First Qualified/First Admitted (FQFA) basis: applications open 1 September each year for both domestic and international applicants, there is no fixed closing date, and seats are filled in order of the date an applicant becomes fully qualified until the program and waitlist are full, so students are urged to apply as early as possible. A small group of Competitive programs (including the Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology and Practical Nursing) instead uses fixed dates for the September 2027 intake: applications open 1 October 2026, close 15 February 2027 for domestic and 31 December 2026 for international applicants, with supporting documents due 15 March 2027 (domestic) or 31 January 2027 (international) and offer letters typically issued in early April 2027. Admission for the FQFA programs is effectively rolling; the Competitive programs are not. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
