This diploma prepares environmental engineering technologists to apply science, ecology and engineering principles to minimize the impact of human activity on the natural world. Coursework covers environmental impact evaluation and mitigation, environmental monitoring, control, data collection and analysis, site assessment and remediation, ecology, aquatic chemistry, hydrology and hydrogeology, atmospheric quality monitoring, soil analysis and classification, solid and liquid waste management, surveying and drafting, computer applications and modelling, and technical report writing. Learning time is split roughly 60% classroom instruction and 40% labs, field camps and project work. The program runs 80 weeks (32 months) across five academic semesters plus three mandatory paid Co-operative Education work terms, delivered full-time on campus at the Moose Jaw campus, with a September intake. Graduates are prepared for technologist roles in environmental monitoring, assessment, remediation and regulatory compliance across industry, consulting and government settings.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires Grade 12 with Pre-Calculus 30 (Math A30, B30 and C30 under the former Saskatchewan curriculum is also accepted), plus Saskatchewan Polytechnic's institution-wide English Language Requirement (IELTS Academic overall 6.5 with 5.0 per band, TOEFL iBT 81 overall with 19 per skill, PTE Academic 63 overall with 50 per component, Duolingo English Test 110, or CAEL 60 overall with 50 per component). Physics 30 or Chemistry 30 is recommended but is not a formal admission requirement. Admission is First Qualified/First Admitted, with applications opening September 1 annually for the September intake.
