The Veterinary Technology program is a 79-week Diploma at Saskatchewan Polytechnic's Saskatoon campus (41 weeks in Year 1, 38 in Year 2), offered in-person or through a blended distance option combining 80% distance learning with 20% in-person residencies. Students study anatomy, anesthesia, surgery, animal behaviour, dentistry, pharmacology, physiology, laboratory work, and veterinary nursing for small and large animal care, supporting veterinarians in diagnosis and treatment. The program is accredited by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, and graduates are eligible to write the North American Veterinary Technician Exam to become registered veterinary technologists. The program begins in September. Admission requires Grade 12 with a minimum of 70% in Biology 30, Chemistry 30, and Foundations of Math 30 or Pre-Calculus 30, plus 70% in 30-level English Language Arts and 40 hours of documented veterinarian-supervised volunteer or work experience.
