Trades - Apprenticeship in Truck and Coach Technician

Sault College delivers the in-school training component of the Truck and Coach Technician apprenticeship, scheduled through Ontario's Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. Training runs in three eight-week sections corresponding to apprenticeship Levels One, Two and Three. Level One follows the Commercial Vehicle & Equipment Common Core (CVAE Level One) curriculum, developed to the province's Apprenticeship Training Standards and shared across related heavy equipment trades. Levels Two and Three focus specifically on the Truck and Coach Technician trade, building on the common core with instruction in the maintenance, diagnosis and repair of trucks, buses and coaches. Sections are delivered on campus in Sault Ste. Marie. The program is open only to individuals already registered as apprentices with the Ministry, who alternate blocks of classroom and shop instruction with on-the-job training periods with their sponsoring employer. Each level is a Ministry-scheduled requirement toward certification in the trade.
