Offered by Selkirk College in Castlegar, Canada, Trades - Apprenticeship in Electrical: Apprenticeship Levels 1 - 4 is a trades - apprenticeship in Trades programme. The programme runs for 10 weeks, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition is CAD 1,600 per total for local students.
This program offers Construction Electrical Apprenticeship Technical Training across all four levels, together with Industrial Electrical Apprenticeship Technical Training levels one through three, for registered electrical apprentices. Classroom sessions build theoretical grounding in electricity and applied concepts drawn from the Canadian Electrical Code, while separate laboratory sessions reinforce the concepts covered during the theory portion of training.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission to this level of the Electrical Apprenticeship requires that applicants already be indentured in an Electrical apprenticeship with an active work-based sponsor, and that they have successfully completed the preceding level. Selkirk classifies files as fully qualified, meeting every stated requirement, or partially qualified, where only the work-sponsor condition is outstanding; applications are accepted until each intake reaches capacity. No academic transcript or English-language test score is required, but applicants must demonstrate the physical fitness the trade demands: mobility, lifting capacity, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, balance, and the ability to work at heights and in adverse weather. An interview with the school chair or a designate may be conducted, though it is not used as an admission criterion. Each level is a full-time, ten-week on-campus block offered in Fall, Winter and Spring intakes, and a minimum cumulative average of 70% is required to complete the level and receive the credential.
