Trades - Apprenticeship in Professional Cook 1: Apprenticeship - Institutional Entry

Admission Requirements: Entry to the Professional Cook Program requires successful completion of Grade 10 or equivalent, including a passing grade in Grade 10 Math and Grade 10 English. International applicants must meet Selkirk College's English-language standard for this programme: IELTS Academic overall band 6.5 with no individual band below 6.0, or an equivalent score on another recognised test; students presenting IELTS 6.0 overall, with no band below 5.5, may still be admitted but must complete the ENGL 66 Essential English course in year one before advancing past 30 program credits. All applicants must be in good general health, able to stand for long periods and to lift up to 25 kg, reflecting the physical demands of commercial kitchen work. Level 1, the institutional-entry point covered by this record, begins in September, with Level 2 following and Level 3 beginning the next January.
