Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission to this Welding Apprenticeship level is restricted to applicants already indentured in a Welding Apprenticeship with an active work apprenticeship sponsor; successful completion of the previous apprenticeship level is required before progressing to the next. No academic grades, English-language test score, or minimum GPA are published for entry beyond this trade-indenture requirement, since candidates are already employed apprentices. The page notes the work is physically demanding: applicants should have good manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination and balance, be able to work at heights and in adverse weather, and be generally fit for the mobility and lifting involved. Students must supply some hand tools, safety boots and leather wear, purchase module texts at an estimated cost of about $600, and pay a refundable $100 tool deposit at the start of the program. A minimum 70% average must be maintained throughout to receive the credential.
