Program details

Overview

This Bachelor of Applied Science program in Nutrition and Food combines food and health with biological and social sciences, covering health promotion, behaviour change and food science alongside a concentration in Nutrition and Health Research. The curriculum meets the academic requirements for graduate dietetics practical training programs and is recognised by the Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology, the Canadian Diabetes Association and the Ontario Family Studies Home Economics Educators' Association. The program is full-time over four years and includes coursework in commercial kitchen and food science laboratories. The program suits students aiming for careers in dietetics, nutrition research, food science, public health nutrition or related fields, and who meet the program's Ontario secondary school science admission requirements, rather than students looking for a general health sciences or biology degree.
