Overview

Environmental and Urban Sustainability is an Honours Bachelor of Arts at Toronto Metropolitan University examining how cities address climate change and balance growth with ecosystem protection. Instruction takes place in labs and field settings, developing analytical skills, scientific literacy and professional competencies for work in research, consulting, government or community advocacy. The program is offered as a 4-year full-time degree, with a 5-year co-op option that adds paid work terms in environmental or urban planning fields. Coursework combines environmental science, urban studies and policy analysis to examine sustainability challenges from ecological and social perspectives together. Graduates are prepared for roles in environmental consulting, urban and municipal planning, government agencies, non-profit advocacy organizations, and further graduate study in environmental studies, planning or related fields.

Minimum GPA: 70.00 / %
Admission Requirements: Ontario applicants need the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with 6 Grade 12 U or M courses, including English/anglais (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred) at a minimum of 70%, with an overall average of at least 70% required for consideration. The competitive average needed for admission fluctuates each year with application volume and available spaces. The university's general English proficiency guideline applies for international applicants: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no minimum band requirement, TOEFL iBT 92, Duolingo English Test 120, PTE Academic 60, CAEL 70.
