Overview

Child & Youth Studies at Trent University is a Bachelor of Arts (General) program with foundations in sociology, psychology, education, and the humanities, examining child and youth development from multiple perspectives. Students study child and youth rights and legal issues alongside emotional, social, artistic, intellectual, and physical development. The program is offered at Trent University Durham GTA. A limited number of places in Trent's Consecutive Bachelor of Education program are reserved each year for students in the Honours stream of Child & Youth Studies; to be considered, students apply through the Teacher Education Application Service, and the top six applicants with a minimum average of 75% or higher on their last 10.0 credits, who meet all Child & Youth Studies and degree requirements, are offered guaranteed BEd admission at Trent. Students who do not meet these criteria may still apply and are considered individually.

Admission Requirements: General admission requirement for Ontario secondary school applicants (required for all Trent University undergraduate programs unless a program states otherwise): ENG4U and five additional U or M courses. A minimum average of 70% on courses considered for admission is required for admission to Trent University, with a minimum grade of 60% required in English.
