Cultural Studies at Trent University examines the history, theory, and practice of culture, with an emphasis on literature and the arts, including visual art, music, theatre, and film. The program takes an interdisciplinary approach, studying culture through both historical and contemporary lenses. Alongside analytical coursework, students take intensive workshop classes that provide hands-on experience in creative writing, studio art, theatre, film, or audio production. Students choose from three areas of concentration: Integrated Arts; Film, Literature & Narrative; and Criticism & Theory, with further specialization options available within each. The credential is a Bachelor of Arts (General), requiring 15.0 credits completed over three years of full-time study. The program combines critical and theoretical study of cultural production with practical creative work, preparing graduates for further study or careers connected to the arts, media, and cultural industries.
