Overview

Mathematics at Trent University (Bachelor of Science, General) is designed to accommodate a wide range of interests in both pure and applied mathematics. Students complete core coursework spanning calculus, algebra, probability, and statistics, giving both breadth across the discipline and the depth needed to pursue areas of particular interest. Some introductory and general-interest mathematics courses, including MATH 1001H, 1080H, 2080Y, 2081H, and 2082H, do not satisfy the Mathematics requirement for the Bachelor of Science degree, so students must select qualifying courses toward the major. Enrolment in reading courses requires either an 85% minimum grade in the relevant prerequisites or department chair approval. As a General credential, the program is completed alongside Trent's standard undergraduate degree requirements, and students may combine Mathematics coursework with electives from Statistics or other quantitative disciplines.

Requirements

Minimum GPA: 70.00 / %
Admission Requirements: Ontario Secondary School Diploma applicants need a minimum of six Grade 12 4U/4M courses, including program-specific prerequisites, a minimum 70% overall average, and ENG4U with a minimum of 60%.
