Instrumental Chemical Analysis is a professional, course-based graduate program at Trent University responding to the need for people who combine a theoretical understanding of modern analytical instruments with the practical skills to operate them, for laboratory roles in commercial, academic, and government settings. The program is available as either a Graduate Diploma or a Master of Instrumental Chemical Analysis, with a co-op option. Full-time students complete the program over three semesters: the first two semesters cover five half-credit courses each, and the third semester consists of a half-credit co-op placement course. Coursework spans required courses in instrumental methods plus a half-credit capstone course. Admission normally requires an average of at least an upper second-class standing (B+/77%) in the last ten full academic credits, a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant science such as biology, biochemistry, chemistry, environmental science, forensic science, physics, or health science, and some relevant analytical laboratory experience. Students are admitted once a year for studies beginning the following September. Co-op students pay a $750 administrative fee during their summer work term.
