Program details

Overview

Immunology is offered as a limited-enrolment major through the University of Toronto's Faculty of Arts & Science, administered within Trinity College, leading to a Bachelor of Science credential. The program requires coursework across four years, including at least one credit at the fourth-year level, beginning with foundational biology and chemistry, moving into biochemistry, biology, immunology, and statistics in the second year, advanced immunology and cellular biology in the third year, and specialized immunology seminars and research-oriented courses in the fourth year. Subject coverage includes immunology fundamentals, biochemistry, cellular biology, molecular genetics, and microbiology, with an emphasis on research-based learning in the later years. Admission requires prior completion of a set number of credits with minimum grades in prerequisite biology and chemistry courses and a minimum average across required courses, though thresholds can vary from year to year. It suits students pursuing an immunology-focused science degree with a view toward graduate research, and those considering graduate school are encouraged to add an optional research course when space permits.

Requirements

Minimum GPA: 70.00 / %
Admission Requirements: This is a limited-enrolment major administered through the Faculty of Arts & Science, open to students who have completed BIO120H1 and BIO130H1, plus CHM135H1 and CHM136H1 (or CHM151Y1). Applicants with a final grade below 65% in either required course, or a grade average below 70% across them, are not considered for admission; meeting these minimums does not guarantee a place, since the program uses a Variable Minimum Grade Average reset each year according to available spaces and applicant numbers. No separate English-language or standardized-test requirement is published; admission follows the University of Toronto's general enrolment process. Students who have completed 4.0 credits and are applying in second year or later should contact the Immunology program directly to confirm eligibility.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Undergraduate admission to Trinity College runs through the University of Toronto's Faculty of Arts & Science: applicants use OUAC (101, 105, or the international application) and choose Trinity as their college. For September 2027 entry, an early application by November 7, 2026 lets documents be submitted by December 1, 2026 for equal consideration, and the firm deadline is January 15, 2027 for domestic and international applicants alike; U of T cancels applications received after a program closes. Trinity's own Faculty of Divinity runs the Master of Divinity and Master of Theological Studies separately: the deadline is May 31 for September entry, and international students needing a study permit are advised to apply by April 1. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
