Program details

Overview

This undergraduate program leads to a Bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences from Université de Montréal, offered full-time or part-time through day courses on the Montreal campus. The curriculum focuses on the organization of living systems at the molecular and cellular level, the physiology of the human body's systems, and the mechanisms behind pathology, pharmacology, and the body's response to physical, chemical, and biological agents, through courses in anatomy, histology, and related biomedical disciplines. Laboratory work is mandatory throughout the program, and students complete a required internship in a research, clinical, or industrial setting, typically in the third year. In that final year, students select one of seven concentrations, including options such as neuroscience, pharmacology and physiology, and auditory and language sciences, allowing them to focus their studies before graduation. The program is aimed at students seeking a broad, laboratory-grounded foundation in the biomedical sciences as a route toward further study or careers in health-related research, clinical settings, or industry, and is open to Quebec college graduates as well as applicants with university-level or out-of-province academic backgrounds.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Direct entry is open to Quebec CEGEP graduates, to university students holding a DEC plus at least 12 completed university credits, to candidates with at least 24 university credits without a DEC, and to holders of a non-Quebec credential judged equivalent. The programme is capped and competitive on academic record alone: the published minimum cote de rendement collegial (cote R) for the current cycle is 31.341, following 29.480 and 30.854 in the two prior years. Because instruction is in French, applicants who did not complete their prior schooling entirely in French must pass Quebec's Epreuve uniforme de francais, complete the requisite university credits in French, or score at least C1 in oral and written comprehension on an accepted French test (DELF, TCF, TFLM, etc.) dated within 24 months of the term start. The programme states that handling biological material is a mandatory, non-waivable part of the training, and students in clinical placements must undergo a criminal background check and hold required vaccinations; religious-attire accommodations cannot exempt a student from placement requirements. It runs full-time or part-time over three years (90 credits), admitting once a year in August, with CEGEP-only applicants applying by 1 March 2027 and all others by 1 February 2027.

Application Details

Start Date: September
Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply directly to the Universite de Montreal: for fall entry, undergraduate applications from Quebec CEGEP-only candidates close 1 March and from university-enrolled or non-Quebec candidates close 1 February, except Faculty of Music (15 January for all); graduate applications close 1 February. Winter entry closes 1 November (undergraduate) or 1 September (graduate); summer closes 1 April or 1 February. International applicants, whatever extension a programme's domestic deadline may carry, must submit by 1 April (fall), 1 August (winter) or 1 December (summer) to allow time for immigration processing. These are the university-wide default dates for the 2027 entry cycle; UdeM notes each programme's own descriptive sheet takes precedence. None are rolling; each is a fixed cut-off. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
