This Master's in Art History is a 45-credit graduate program covering Western art history from the medieval period to the present, with coursework and research areas in museology and collection management, gender and sexuality in visual culture, material and provenance analysis, and modern and contemporary art theory, alongside specialized fields such as garden history, photography, and public art. A dedicated methodology seminar prepares students for thesis research, and personalized faculty supervision is provided throughout the program. International study and research exchanges are available. The program can be completed full-time or part-time, with day classes at the Montreal campus. Admission requires a bachelor's degree, a 200-to-500-word research-proposal sketch, a letter of intent describing career plans and countersigned by two faculty references, and a sample of prior academic work such as an undergraduate thesis or major paper. Graduates pursue roles as museum curators, researchers, art critics, and cultural administrators in museums, galleries, media, publishing, and government cultural agencies, or continue to doctoral study. Entry is offered for the Winter and Fall terms.
