This Master's in Music, Interpretation and Jazz Composition option, is a 45-credit, course-based graduate program in which students compose, perform, and record original jazz works. Coursework combines jazz composition technique and analysis with advanced instrumental interpretation and improvisation, following a research-creation approach that pairs theoretical study with practical musicianship. Students record projects in a professional-level studio, receive master classes from visiting performers, and can perform with the university's Big Band and jazz chamber ensembles at the Salle Claude-Champagne concert hall. The program is delivered full-time, with day classes at the Montreal campus. Admission requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent, a letter of presentation, a curriculum vitae, and three original compositions submitted with recordings and scores.
