— it helps other students.
This introductory certificate develops skills for translating from English into French, teaching students to write logical, coherent French texts by identifying and correcting linguistic interference. Coursework builds language, methodological, and writing competencies in French and English grammar and style, and introduces documentary research and computer-assisted translation tools. Teaching is practice-oriented and delivered by instructors from the language industry, using pedagogical methods focused on translation practice rather than theory alone. The 30-credit undergraduate certificate is offered mostly evenings and weekends at the Montreal campus and can be completed full-time or part-time. Combined with Certificat de traduction 2, it is recognized by the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ), and it can form part of a baccalauréat par cumul in translation.
