The Master's in Secondary Education (Maitrise en enseignement au secondaire) is a 45-credit graduate program at Universite de Sherbrooke, offered by the Faculte d'education and delivered entirely online. It leads to the Maitre en education (M.Ed.) degree but does not lead to a teaching licence. The program targets people with relevant training or experience in education, particularly practising secondary teachers who want to deepen and extend their training by situating their questioning and educational practice within current theoretical currents of education research. Students deepen their knowledge of psychopedagogy, begin specializing in the didactics of one or more disciplines, update or complete their disciplinary knowledge, and develop professional competencies grounded in their own professional experience. The program addresses the thirteen professional competencies set out in Quebec's 2020 teaching-profession competency framework, and requires students to systematically analyze their own professional practice and complete a final essay integrating their disciplinary, didactic and pedagogical learning.
