This program awards a Bachelor of Science in Physics through a 90-credit, full-time curriculum completed over three years at the University of Sherbrooke's main campus, with admission in the fall and winter terms. The core curriculum covers linear algebra, mechanics, electricity and magnetism, waves, and modern physics, building into upper-level theoretical and laboratory coursework spanning the discipline. Students may complete the degree under a regular study plan or a cooperative plan that alternates academic terms with paid work terms, subject to internship availability, and both full-time and part-time registration are offered under the regular plan. The program is designed to give graduates a strong theoretical and experimental foundation in physics, preparing them for further graduate study or work in research and applied physics settings.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission follows Universite de Sherbrooke's general first-cycle admission condition set out in the Reglement des etudes. Applicants qualify through a DEC in Sciences of Nature (200.B1), Sciences, Letters and Arts (700.A1), the International Baccalaureate (200.Z1), or Sciences Informatiques et Mathematiques (200.C1); alternatively, any DEC combined with cellular biology [0B01], general chemistry [0C01], solution chemistry [0C02], differential calculus [0M02 or 0PU2], integral calculus [0M03 or 0PU3], linear algebra and vector geometry [0M04 or 0PU4], and mechanics, electricity and magnetism, and waves and modern physics [0P01, 0P02, 0P03] also qualifies, as does a relevant technical DEC combined with the same mathematics and physics courses. Students who have not already passed the ministry's Test de francais ecrit (TFE) or an equivalent recognized test must pass a placement test in their first term and succeed by the start of their second year. The page does not itself publish a French-language test score requirement for admission beyond this progression rule.
