The PhD in Chemical Engineering (Doctorat en genie chimique) at Universite de Sherbrooke is a 90-credit research doctorate leading to the Philosophiae Doctor degree, delivered full-time on the Sherbrooke campus under a regular or industry-partnership study regime. It prepares graduates to become high-level professionals who design and implement innovative solutions to complex engineering and technological research-and-development problems, or to pursue academic research careers. Students deepen specialized expertise, independently conduct research projects, and develop rigorous approaches to solving scientific and technological problems, culminating in a doctoral thesis. Research areas in the department span energy (biofuels, fuel cells), environment and sustainable development (agri-food, air, water, green processes and biomass, waste valorization), materials (aluminum, surface chemistry, nanomaterials, polymers), plasma applications, biological processes and biotechnology (biomaterials, bioprocesses, tissue engineering), and pharmaceutical process engineering. The program admits at the Fall, Winter and Summer terms.
