Overview
This 90-credit undergraduate program leads to a Bachelor's degree in Communication, Politics and Society, offered in French at the Montreal campus on a full-time-only basis. Training is tri-disciplinary, combining communication, political science, and journalism, and prepares graduates to understand and work within political communication at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels. The curriculum examines how information shapes the relationship between governments, media, and citizens, with particular attention to media influence on political decision-making and the phenomenon of information manipulation. Admission is offered for the fall term only, and all admitted students must complete an English-language test in their first term of enrolment. Graduates work as political communication advisors, public affairs officers, journalists, and policy analysts in government, media, and advocacy organizations.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: All applicants must demonstrate French proficiency through the Uniform French Test required for the DEC, the Quebec Ministry's written French test, or UQAM's own written French test. Admission is possible on one of three bases: holding a DEC or a Quebec-equivalent diploma; being at least 21 years old with at least two years of relevant experience in politics or communication; or having completed five university-level courses (15 credits) at the time of application. All admitted students must complete an English-language test in their first term of enrolment.
